Are you looking for a new challenge? This role is an exciting opportunity in an expanding academy and maybe perfect for someone who is looking to gain experience for a future career path working with young people, in teaching or social work.

You will be joining St Edmund’s at an exciting time as we are part of the St Francis and St Clare’s Catholic Multi-Academy Company launched in September 2019. Our mission is to nurture the gifts and talents of every student and every member of staff and, as such, is a very supportive, special place to work.

You will develop relationships with young people based on respect and trust and using our gospel values to ensure young people reflect on their behaviour in line with our CARE values.  You will lead sessions related to areas such as health, fitness, smoking, drugs, gangs, violence, relationships and bullying.  You will be fully supported by the academy and will work in partnership with teachers and other pastoral staff.

Experience and Skills

  • a strong commitment to young people and an understanding of the factors affecting their lives.
  • the ability to provide reliable support to young people and act with integrity in times of stress.
  • excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain good relationships with young people.
  • patience, tolerance and flexibility.
  • a sense of humour and a willingness to try new things.
  • the ability to treat young people’s concerns with respect, tact and sensitivity
  • a great deal of resilience.

Ideally educated to at least A Level/ Level 3+, or you will be able to clearly evidence and demonstrate relevant experience of youth work. This role can offer an important stepping-stone to an exciting career and further opportunities may be available in the future as we expand our academy.

Our strong commitment to safeguarding means this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
